Open Project Night
OurSpace emerged out of the community-led platform Open Project Night, a successful model for the incubation of peer-led community business ideas. Based on a model for open space events, developed by Impact Hub Birmingham, Open Project Night started in Brixton in 2016 as a collaborative initiative, led by Impact Hub Brixton and Transition Town Brixton.
- It allows community groups, initiatives and change-makers to use space at no cost.
- It connects different organisations and residents via a shared meal, and offers an opportunity to build new relationships across social and economic boundaries.
- It builds a platform for volunteers to get involved with campaigns, community festivals and local projects.
- It offers structured support, a supportive community, and skills-based learning for the growth of early-stage new community business ideas.
